Japanese Content Production Company Minto Opens Collectible Store in Bangkok’s Siam Center

Siam Center, a prominent shopping complex known for its array of fashion brands, has long been a vibrant hub for fashion-conscious youths in Thailand. The opening of the OMP shop will enable patrons to design their unique avatars using characters created in collaboration with over 100 creators, hailing from both Japan and overseas. 

This store allows individuals to craft personalized merchandise using touchscreen machines, giving them the freedom to arrange characters as they see fit and imprint them onto physical goods. 

At the heart of “Oh My Pop! (OMP)” lies an array of characters and merchandise. Of the featured characters, “Usagiyun!” is the most popular amongst fans of Minto’s character creations.

Established last year, Minto is a production entity dedicated to exploring fresh avenues within the realm of manga and anime content. The company’s vision involves establishing a new content ecosystem, anchored by four primary operations across Japan, China, Thailand, and Vietnam. These operations encompass social media content paired with advertising, character crossovers, Webtoon IP production, and engagement with Web3 technologies.

This venture’s central objectives also encompass the dissemination of information and education, aimed particularly at Web3 enthusiasts. In 2018, Minto released a blockchain game called CryptoCrystal, with 10,000 NFTs garnering a market circulation of over 500 million yen ($3.49 million) as of December 2021, the company’s website states.

The company also launched Minto Land in The Sandbox, with NFTs in the land opening sale selling out in four minutes and recording sales of over 200 million yen ($1.39 million). Subsequently, Minto developed the first metaverse and NFT of the manga IP “Captain Tsubasa.”

Through the launch of OMP in Bangkok, Minto is demonstrating its creator IP marketing efforts, which is a core part of its content solution business. This initiative could potentially redefine the landscape of collectibles within Thailand’s retail scene, forging a symbiotic relationship between creators, characters, and consumers.
