The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has signed an official licensing agreement with Upland metaverse to offer fans ownership of exclusive video footage from football matches. Upland advertises itself as “the #1 metaverse mapped to the real world” and is accessible on the web browser, iOs, and Android.
AFA will also integrate Argentina’s professional football league (LPF) into Upland’s metaverse.
“Upland is the only place in the world raising up all of Argentina football above the competition. Every pass. Every kick. Every save. Every crowd-roaring, trophy-raising moment of the entire Argentine Football Association (AFA) is in Upland – including exclusive highlight videos you’ll only find in the Upland metaverse,”
the metaverse platform wrote.
The metaverse will bring Argentina’s 112 clubs and the country’s football superstars, such as Messi, Maradona, Kempes, Zanetti, Passarella, and others, into its virtual world and showcase historic football moments.
The partnership will allow AFA fans to interact with each other in the metaverse, benefit from participation in the global community, and connect with their favorite teams and players.
Upland also offers gamified experiences featuring Argentine football digital collectibles. The NFTs include teams, players, clubs, tickets, gameplay footage and highlights, historical and platform-exclusive moments, and the Official Upland Market. In the metaverse, fans can launch virtual businesses to resell LPF virtual items and other digital collectibles in user-owned and operated shops on their virtual properties in 22 cities in Upland.
Surprisingly, the Argentine football team lost its first game to Saudi Arabia in the first group match about a month ago. This led to the Argentine Football Association Fan Token (ARG) falling by 30%. Currently, the token is priced at $2.15, a 4.6% increase in 24 hours but almost a 70% decrease from last week’s peak of $7.14.
