Yuga Labs’ metaverse project Otherside introduces Legends of the Mara, an upcoming gamified experience.
The company behind blue-chip NFT collections Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club announced the release on Twitter. The new project is a 2D strategy game with a separate non-fungible token collection. The experience picks up the events of the second Otherside trip, Yuga Labs’ metaverse game.
Legends of the Mara focuses on Kodas, the “primary keepers” of the Otherside metaverse. Holders of these creatures and Otherdeed NFTs can claim “Vessels,” the NFT characters for the new game. According to the metaverse’s website, Vessels are meteors that can be used to defend the Otherside. The three types of these NFTs – “enchanter,” “farmer,” and “hunter” – will be assigned to players randomly. Users can access Legends of the Mara once they mint the free “Vessels” tokens. The claim period will begin in early April.
Yuga Labs has not shared many details about the project yet. However, according to Otherside’s official Twitter, Legends of the Mara will take off in May.
Yuga Labs continues introducing new projects. Earlier this month, the company released “TwelveFold,” a collection of 300 generative NFTs. Even though Yuga sold $16.5 million worth of artworks, the drop was unsuccessful. It was deeply criticized by the community for its auction mode and the images that had limited creativity and resembled one another.
