In Brief
Worldcoin expands availability of advanced proof of personhood technology in Germany, reflecting a global shift toward enhanced digital identity verification.
Amidst an escalating need for reliable digital personhood verifications due to advancing AI technologies, Worldcoin is broadening access to its World ID system in Germany. Their expansion announcement can be found on their recent tweet.
Starting in September, Berlin’s XPERION—a cutting-edge gaming experience center—initiated World ID verifications on a trial basis. The significant traction from this initiative has paved the way for an extension through December.
Furthermore, Saturn store at Alexanderplatz will host the Orbs—a bespoke imaging device created by Worldcoin. This device recognizes the distinct “humanness” of an individual, setting a benchmark in personhood verification.

The World ID system underscores the importance of proving one’s identity in the digital sphere. As it stands, digital spaces are rampant with synthetic identities and automated bots, posing challenges to the authenticity of online interactions. The gaming industry, in particular, feels the heat, as these bots often usher in online frauds and deceptive activities.
Germany, known for its rigorous privacy standards, is a fitting hub for such advancements. Worldcoin’s association with Germany runs deep. TFH’s base in Erlangen conceptualized and developed the innovative “Orb.” Germany handles its production, showcasing the nation’s expertise in cutting-edge optical technologies.
Echoing the sentiment, Alex Blania, the CEO of TFH and co-founder of Worldcoin, stressed the changing dynamics of the digital realm in a conversation with Forbes Germany. Blania accentuated the increasing importance of human verification in online ecosystems, stating, “We are no longer alone on the Internet.”
