The Recording Industry Association of America awarded 22-year-old music artist singer Willow Smith with the first-ever music NFT plaque.
A platinum single was presented to the performer and daughter of Will Smith in honor of her platinum achievements. Plaques honor Willow’s top four singles that went platinum throughout her career. The singles featured are “Whip My Hair” and “Transparent Soul,” among others.
It’s worth noting that the visual design of the plaque artwork was designed by Smith and her label Roc Nation and Infinite Objects. Notably, after Willow accomplishes new steps in her carrier, the design of the artwork will change.
“I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to engage in the sacred process that is music. BIG LOVE to RIAA and Infinite Objects! I am so honored to be able to celebrate these NFT milestones in such an innovative way,” said Willow Smith.
Non-fungible tokens have been gaining popularity among musicians. Overall, the music industry has been integrating NFT and metaverse strategies with the release of various initiatives. Earlier this month, DJ Steve Aoki launched a web3 music player. Dubbed IDOL III, it features a curated mix of 12 tracks from Aoki’s Dim Mak label.
In August 2022, world-known rappers Snoop Dogg and Eminem released an Otherside-themed music video that features imagery for the blue-chip NFT collection Bored Ape Yacht Club.
