The Sandbox is embracing sports in its metaverse. The gaming-inspired metaverse platform partners with OneFootball to bring football into the virtual world and teams up with Altava for a play-and-earn miniature golf experience.
OneFootball, the global football media platform, enters the metaverse amid the FIFA World Cup 2022. The media company offers fans the chance to learn more about the Argentinian football team in the metaverse and earn rewards.
OneFootball presents the AFA Village—until December 27, football fans can purchase officially licensed NFTs from the Argentinian Football Association and OneFootball. The digital collectibles include replica trophies, retro Argentina football shirts, cosmic football boots, and more.
Users can then share a 50,000 $SAND prize pool split among the participants. To participate in the experience, users must complete in-game quests, acquire NFTs for the AFA Village collection, and validate their identities on The Sandbox.
In a separate collaboration, The Sandbox partnered with Altava, the company which brings culture-focused fashion brands into the metaverse. For 2023, the two brands are developing the ALTAVA Club House in The Sandbox, a digital replica of the Seoul-based pop-up store showcasing the Bored Ape Golf Club (BAGC) collection.
In Altava’s 3×3 LAND in The Sandbox, the Club House will feature miniature golf-based experiences. The BAGC Special Edition avatars will also add utility to The Sandbox’s virtual universe.
The Korean fashion label combines fashion and technology, connecting the physical world with Web3. Earlier this year, Altava collaborated with the Bored Ape Yacht Club to launch its exclusive golf-themed BAGC collection and offer exclusive golf-themed merchandise to BAYC holders.
Starting today (December 7), The Sandbox launched a K-content-themed festival with a few gamified activities: K League Jumping Rush, ANICUBEENT, and MTDZ Neverland. The metaverse platform also dropped a dedicated NFT collection dubbed K League.
