The royal family enters the metaverse: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle partner with Pax.World to launch the Meg-averse

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making their debut entrance into the metaverse. The royal duo is building a 3D virtual world, Meg-averse, that will allow them to reach millions worldwide. 

According to the British news outlet Mirror, Harry and Meghan are collaborating with the metaverse creator Pax.World to create the Meg-averse. Inside it, fans will attend meetings, talks, and events hosted by Harry and Meghan. 

Pax.World is an open metaverse built on the carbon-neutral Polygon blockchain. Players use the native token $PAXW to create worlds and trade NFTs. As the company explains, Pax.World is the first virtual world owned by its users. 

The founder of Pax.World, Frank Fitzgerald, commented that the British royals were given a prime piece of land inside Pax.World and the virtual world’s best architects at their disposal. 

In 2020, Harry and Meghan released their charity foundation, Archewell, which aims to “unleash the power of compassion to drive systematic cultural change.” The Meg-averse will help the couple’s charity reach a wider audience.

“Both Meghan and Harry believe they will have an even greater ability to spread their message if they have a presence in the virtual world as well as the physical world. They’ve spoken to a variety of experts and the view is this is the next stage to take their brand truly global,”

Although further details of the Meg-averse haven’t been released, possible upcoming features include online communities and gaming experiences of Harry and Meghan, along with 3D avatar appearances of the couple. 

Other celebrities who have already entered the metaverse to engage with fans include Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, and Paris Hilton. 

The crypto community once took the royal family as a joke by dedicating several memecoins and NFTs to the late Queen Elizabeth II. Over 30 cryptocurrencies appeared on the Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum blockchains just hours after the Queen’s death.
