The Launch of Push Notifications to Polkadot DeFi Users

A decentralized finance (DeFi) network that powers the aUSD ecosystem, Acala launched a new notification feature on December 01, 2022. This feature brings push notifications for on-chain and off-chain events to Acala and Polkadot ecosystem developers and DeFi users.

Acala is the decentralized financial (DeFi) hub of Polkadot that makes it fast and easy to use or build financial applications. The platform offers a suite of DeFi primitives including a stablecoin, DEX, and staking derivatives.

Dan Reecer, Chief Growth Officer at Acala and Karura, previously launched Polkadot and Kusama at Web3 Foundation, shared a Medium post that included all the details of the new push notification to Polkadot DeFi users and Developers.

The Push Notifications

According to the Medium post, the new type of integration for the community-push notifications for on-chain events will be powered by Notifi.

Notifi is the Twilio for web3 that simplifies communication across all web3 messaging channels. Its platform is designed with simple APIs for easy integration and customizable and advanced features for dApps and web3 applications. This also empowers developers to better engage with their users via multichannel communications.

Alex Horn, Chief Product Officer at Notifi said “Having a view into all your wallets and DeFi activity in real-time is more important than ever. We’re excited to bring these notifications to the Acala ecosystem with Notifi’s SDK for developers and wallet balance change alerts for DeFi users.”

For Acala Users

In the initial phase of implementation of Notifi’s wallet-based notifications, Acala users will benefit from streamlined communications of the “Notifi Hub.” The users will also get real-time updates on different wallet activities such as governance proposals, transactions, and balance changes.

For Acala Developers

In this new type of integration, Acala developers can also use Notifi’s SDK to add alerts to their projects.

For The Acala Ecosystem

As per the Medium post, Notifi has had its fair share of DeFi use cases, integrating protocols like Orca, SynFutures, Bastion Protocol, Hubble, and more.

The notifications powers Acala’s community to:

“Power alerts on transactions and balances that occur for all users to keep track of activities outside their browser and into their everyday channels
Enable notifications through a native experience inside dApps like Tapio
Enable features on the Notifi Hub — Acala users can log into the “Hub” and set up alerts including Whale watch of other wallet activities”

Mr. Reecer called it the beginning of a long-term integration roadmap with Nitifi, as the Phase 2 of their implementation will also add Notifi’s SDK into the Acala Apps UI that will allow expanded notification services such as CDP vault health (liquidation alerts,) asset price alerts, liquid staking reward alerts, and more.
