The vodka company Absolut has filed trademarks to open virtual Malibu rum-themed bars and serve NFT drinks in the metaverse. The trademarks cover virtual clothing, footwear, and alcoholic drinks; NFT trading software; stores for virtual goods, including NFTs; NFT trading marketplaces; and virtual bars and restaurants.
The metaverse-based bars and restaurants will also feature real-life home delivery.
A licensed trademark attorney, Mike Kondoudis, shared on December 27 that the Absolut company filed a web3-related patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The Absolut Company, founded in 1917, is a beverage production firm known for creating international spirit brands such as Absolut Vodka, coffee liquor Kahlúa, and a coconut-flavored liquor brand, Malibu.
According to the data, the Absolut Company wants to launch virtual alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and virtual wearables in the metaverse. In addition, the drink production brand seeks to offer downloadable software, mobile apps, and cloud-based solutions for processing crypto-related transactions.
Absolut also plans to provide cloud-based solutions for trading, storing, and transferring cryptocurrencies and NFTs. Its other plan includes launching an NFT marketplace for digital media and virtual assets.
Malibu already held a metaverse experience for the Coachella festival for two weeks in April. Absolut.Land in Decentraland offered users exclusive gear and the opportunity to win NFT wearables. By exploring the land and finding collectibles, users could win prizes and discount codes to use in real life.
Luxury beverage companies that joined the metaverse include whisky Johnnie Walker, Patrón tequila, and cognacs Rémy Martin and Hennessy. Besides, there is an NFT marketplace, BlockBar, entirely dedicated to liquor.
