Renowned DJs Steve Aoki and Justin Blau (3LAU) have announced the upcoming release of a new song dubbed “Concentrate.”
In December 2022, the musicians partnered to create the “Punx” duo. The group focuses on electronic music and the NFT theme. Both artists are familiar with web3: Justin Blau has virtually performed during Decentraland’s Metaverse Music Festival, while Steve Aoki has participated in numerous NFT projects and has his land in The Sandbox.
“Concentrate” is the first release of the duo. It is created in the spirit of CryptoPunks, the blue-chip non-fungible token collection created by Larva Labs in 2017. Aoki and 3LAU own CryptoPunks NFTs and often get inspiration from the artworks, so the three-minute track follows the cyber and tech themes with electronic beats you could hear at a techno festival.
The track drops on the web3 rights platform Royal, co-founded by Justin Blau. The NFT marketplace gives collectors and music fans the possibility to support their favorite artists by purchasing non-fungible tokens. At the same time, NFT holders get a percentage of music rights and can receive royalties when the songs stream.
Starting Friday, April 28, the non-fungible token of “Concentrate” will be available for minting to 99 collectors, chosen among CryptoPunks NFT holders, Aoki’s Aok1verse Passport owners, and Blau’s NFT holders. Punx will share 50% of music rights with lucky NFT holders, giving each of them the possibility to own 0.5% of the song.
Generally speaking, this is not the first NFT-backed music track release. In February this year, NFT marketplace AnotherBlock released tokens of Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” hit, which sold out straight away.
