Royal Mail has a team of more than 100 trying to find a “work around” to continue sending items overseas after a cyberattack from a Russian group continued to wreak havoc with deliveries.
The postal service confirmed yesterday that it was still unable to export any letters or parcels after a ransomware attack by a group known as LockBit on Wednesday.
The software attack has disabled a system that creates the dockets required by international transport operators and postal services. For this reason, outbound post has been stuck in depots but inbound post is largely unaffected.

Royal Mail usually delivers about 200,000 items overseas every day although it has asked customers to postpone sending items for export until the problem is resolved.
