Sportswear brand Nike introduces Footballverse and launches several metaverse initiatives.
Nike FC’s metaverse story starts with an international team of scientists working in a secret laboratory in Switzerland. During their work, the scientists debate about who is the best football player of all time and decide to create a football metaverse to find out.
The Footballverse features such noted football players as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Alex Morgan, Kylian Mbappé, Carli Lloyd, CR Jr., Edgar Davids, Kevin De Bruyne, Leah Williamson, Phil Foden, Ronaldo Nazário, Virgil van Dijk, Sam Kerr, and Shane Kluivert.
The promo video invites football fans to experiment with football via NIKELAND in the Roblox metaverse. The virtual space features games, avatar skin shops, and social spaces. More than that, players can unlock sports skills and create mini-games to play on their playgrounds.
In addition to the Roblox land, Nike developed a gaming space on the South Korean metaverse platform Zepeto.
The brand also partnered with the creator-led digital studio RTFKT to drop a collection of 3,333 phygital Footballverse Jerseys. Interested users can apply for the waitlist through November 21 and have a chance to receive one of the jerseys for free.
It’s worth noting that earlier this week, Nike announced the launch of its Web3 community platform, dubbed .SWOOSH. The virtual space allows users to co-create the future of the brand, co-design clothing, participate in community activities, and much more.
