MakersPlace is Going to Decentraland’s Metaverse Art Week

MakersPlace is excited to be hosting an exhibition at this year’s Metaverse Art Week in the Decentraland from August 24–28. For this year’s MAW, MakersPlace commissioned renowned artist Alan Bolton to adapt his art as an installation in the Plaza.

Alan Bolton is an Irish mixed-media digital artist living in Tenerife, Spain. A multidisciplinary creator, Bolton’s work is not defined by one form of media and includes photography, videography, graphic design, 3D art, augmented reality, digital collage, and more. His works are imaginative with a surrealist, abstract feel, and his practice focuses on experimentation and evolution.

THE SUCCESSOR is part of Alan Bolton’s REBIRTH Collection — an abstract representation of the creation of a new breed of human beings in the future. Each artwork within the collection takes viewers on a unique journey of the creative process to building a new human.

The collection is divided into three stages: Consciousness, Human Design, and Technology. THE SUCCESSOR represents Stage Two — the human design process. This stage merges elements of our current universe, organic matter, technology, and nature with human beings to begin the rebirth of our successor.

In addition to Alan Bolton’s installation, MakersPlace will host a curated exhibition in its Decentraland Gallery. The exhibition is thematically inspired by this year’s MAW theme, The World is Made of Code, and includes the following crypto art heavy hitters:

About Decentraland Metaverse Art Week 2022

Inspired by globally renowned art events, such as the Venice Biennale and Art Basel, Decentraland is presenting a Web3 experience with immersive art installations, performance and conceptual art productions, and NFT exhibitions unlike anything ever seen before.

Metaverse Art Week 2022 will host a series of activities throughout dedicated spaces inside Decentraland, centered around a 3D Sculpture garden known as ‘Art Plaza,’ a gravity-defying open-air museum. Adjacent to this area, there will be community-designed and art collective gallery exhibitions, which will introduce panels and round tables.
