LimeWire Teams Up with Polygon to Launch Blockchain-based AI Creator Studio

Limewire, a music NFT marketplace, today announced the launch of its AI Creator Studio on Polygon. Formerly known as a popular peer-to-peer file-sharing platform, LimeWire made a comeback last year as a music-focused NFT marketplace.

Staying aligned with the current trends in the digital content creation landscape, LimeWire said that it aims to democratize access to AI tools, enabling individuals from all backgrounds to participate. 

The AI Studio will include image creation and video production tools, as well as full music tracks. 

LimeWire COO Marcus Feistl told Metaverse Post that the platform chose to build the AI Creator Studio on Polygon’s Proof-of-Stake (PoS) network due to its speed and efficiency. 

“Additionally, with Polygon boasting one of Web3’s most dynamic and expansive creator communities, it presents a valuable chance for us to welcome these existing Polygon creators into the LimeWire fold,” he said.

Addressing the growing copyright concerns surrounding AI-generated music, LimeWire said it will incorporate a repository of licensed content that users can utilize for music production. Moreover, the company plans to expand this library, allowing musicians to upload their pre-existing content and make it accessible to fellow creators.

However, the process of uploading content will involve multiple verification steps to ensure the originality of the music and prevent plagiarism.

“First, musicians need to confirm that they hold the rights to the uploaded music. Additionally, we are using AI to filter out copyright cases and offer DMCA services for any violations,”

Feistl explained.

At launch, the AI Studio will only enable image generation using the latest Stable Diffusion and DALL-E models. New models for video and music generation are set to roll out in Q3 2023. 

All content generated in the AI Studio will be automatically minted on the Polygon blockchain. 

“Once the library is live, we will use blockchain technology to distinguish between content contributor and creator and automate the revenue splits between the parties,” Feistl told Metaverse Post.

Speaking on the convergence of Web3 and AI, Feistl said that there is a large and proven overlap between the two technologies.

“We’ve spoken to quite a lot of established AI players this year and learned that Web3 functionalities like crypto payments and NFT minting are highly demanded features by many AI content creators,” added Feistl. “Hence, we’re proud to be one of the first established players to bring these two communities together on a single platform.”
