Kia America, an automobile manufacturer, launched its first NFTs in February. Since then, the company has contributed to funding 22k pet shelters. Kia has set a valuable goal and raised funding for an NGO to relieve overpopulated animal shelters. Kia has auctioned several robotic puppy-themed NFTs and raised $100k for the non-profitable organization, The Petfinder.

- Tezos blockchain claimed 10k ‘adoption pass’ NFTs in a free mint.
- After a week, 10k generative versions went on sale to coincide with the NBA All-Star game on Feb 18th.
- Moreover, various rarer NFTs have contributed to raising funds in 6 digits.
Kia America’s vice president Russell Wager expressed the significance of The Petfinder Foundation, especially in the middle of the pandemic environment. He said that we already know that pet adoptions are increasing due to the pandemic. However, thousands of animals had found their homes, but still, pets surrendered themselves to shelters was also rising as many people returned to their work. There were still many pets who deserved a happy ending as Robo Dog did in their Super Bowl spot.
Kia’s project of the NFT collection illustrates a big brand moving into the Web3 world to benefit welfare. It is a perfect example that the NFT industry has enough room for non-profitable projects apart from profitable projects.
