MakersPlace at SCOPE, Nov 29–Dec 4
We are excited to announce that we will be one of the few NFT platforms exhibiting at SCOPE Art Show this year. This honor signifies an important milestone recognizing MakersPlace as the preeminent destination for the NFT fine arts community.
We are grateful to our screen partners Whim and Infinite Objects for making this possible.
With over 85 art shows spanning more than 20 years, SCOPE Art Show in Miami, New York, and Basel, Switzerland is celebrated as the premier showcase for international emerging contemporary art and multi-disciplinary creative programming. Renowned for its uncanny ability to forecast new visual trends that are embraced globally, SCOPE has garnered extensive critical acclaim with cumulative sales of billions and attendance of millions.
For this year’s SCOPE, MakersPlace will present multiple exhibits, including the following.
Urs Fischer’s CHAOS Series
Urs Fischer x Fair Warning x MakersPlace are pleased to announce that the PENULTIMATE drop of CHAOS works will take place on Wednesday, December 7 on MakersPlace.
The five new works will be revealed IRL at the MakersPlace booth at SCOPE Art Fair in Miami, FL, on November 29 and available for in-person viewing through December 4. They will be viewable on the MakersPlace website starting on Wednesday, November 30.
New York-based, Swiss-born artist Urs Fischer is widely regarded as one of the leading forces of the contemporary art movement. His work often presents a collision, a carefully orchestrated, often humor-infused dance between everyday objects and their relationships to human experience.
The CHAOS series has garnered attention and support from all corners of the art world. Renowned gallery spaces like Gagosian, innovative auction app Fair Warning, former Christie’s co-chairman Loic Gouzer, and premiere NFT platform MakersPlace, converging under Fischer’s vision of evolving art and objects.
AFRICA HERE + Never-Before-Seen Osinachi Artworks
At Scope, we are proud to showcase the art of African-born and -based creators curated by Osinachi, the leading digital artist to come out of Nigeria, in addition to the debut three of his own new original works.
The accelerator program from Nigerian digital artist Osinachi and MakersPlace officially kicked off on November 7, 2022, and coincided with West Africa’s premier international art fair, Art X Lagos.
Following an exciting submissions period during which we learned about and saw art from 100+ African creators, Osinachi made his final decisions about which six would be included in the exhibit to premier at SCOPE Art Show during Art Week Miami.
The Holoverse
The Holoverse team, innovators in holographic NFTs, returns to the world of digital art. The Holoverse has teamed up with MakersPlace for its second hologram NFT (“HNFT”), Van Gogh’s tenth and penultimate painting in his Sunflowers series. The stunning piece will be auctioned on MakersPlace on December 20, 2022.
The Sunflowers hologram NFT comes in both digital and physical formats. The original canvas is scanned into a multi-gigabyte photogrammetry image that lets the viewer zoom in to experience the work in more detail than the naked eye can see.
The unique 1:1 hologram, which is viewable in daytime and night, will be delivered with white-glove service to include the installation of the artwork.
The painting is the tenth of eleven in Van Gogh’s Sunflowers series and has hung in the Vincent van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam since 1994, but will now be viewable by the HNFT owner as a half-billion-pixel replica.
BADMEANiNGOOD 2 by Austin Wilde x Banksy
In the early 2000s, ex-graffiti artist and indie label owner Austin Wilde ran a label that released cult classic compilation albums, including a hip-hop-inspired series called BADMEANiNGOOD, for which he commissioned a then-little-known graffiti artist named Banksy to produce four album covers and posters, and an additional 12″ sleeve for the 2002–2003 releases.
In the second official drop for the BADMEANiNGOOD series, collectors can get NFTs of the original record store promotional poster as well as a second-edition physical print stamped and signed by series creator and copyright owner Austin Wilde with a certificate of authenticity.
Pixelated Heroes
Celebrating female leadership and strength, the eagerly-awaited Public release of Pixelated Heroes will go live on December 14th at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET.
Preview 6 new heroes from Rewind Collective’s impact-driven collection and enter to win an Infinite Object Screen + Pixelated Hero NFT when you visit MakersPlace’s booth at SCOPE (F07).
Rewind Collective is a group of anonymous artists who aim to uplift those who have been traditionally marginalized by the art world to build a community focused on supporting minorities and women. Rewind Collective believes it is time to rewind the patriarchy, misogyny, and segregation and shine a light on those who deserve to be seen and heard.
“Rewind Collective’s work highlights the underestimated role women have played in the history of the global struggle for equality and human rights and challenges structures of power, authority, and ownership in the art world today.”
– Katie A. Pfohl, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, New Orleans Museum of Art
Marco Santini
The Signature Series by NYC artist Marco Santini is a 22-piece collection that bridges the gap between past, present, and future. Extremely rare and signed art books from the masters of History (Basquiat, Warhol, Haring, Matisse, de Kooning, Kahlo, and more) have been reimagined as collages that showcase the range of their works. Each collaged book is paired with a single, exclusive, animated NFT that takes the art collaboration into the future.
To benefit the greater community, each buyer will also be able to choose a school anywhere in the world for Santini to speak about the future of art and NFTs before painting a mural with the students, bringing about a positive educational experience for the creators of the future. This series will give birth to a new field of artwork that transforms historic relics into collaborative art pieces that can be enjoyed from multiple perspectives.
Six physical artworks from The Signature Series will debut at MakersPlace’s booth at SCOPE Miami Beach 2022, displayed in custom Plexiglas cases alongside their corresponding NFTs. These six “phygital” works will be released as The Signature Series – Volume I — the artist’s inaugural Drop on MakersPlace — coinciding with the VIP Preview of the fair on November 29th starting at 12 pm ET.
Musketon
“With anything, you have people that maybe go a little bit too far.” This is how artist Musketon (aka Bert Dries) begins to describe his latest project, CryptoBro, “somebody that’s really into crypto, and it’s like a religion almost.”
— Musketon
As a devoted satirist who left high-end brand work only to find his creative output mocking similar (if not the same) brands that had once been his clients, it seems inevitable that Musketon would set his sites on the most outspoken and visible set within his new home turf. He highlighted the stereotypes as he saw them — Red Bull, Xanax, Bitcoin baseball cap, and cold wallet close at hand.
As the illustration of Musketon’s fictional toy made its rounds on social media (“I think the crypto bro illustration is being reposted by actual crypto bros. I think they actually think it’s funny.”), an independent toy maker based in France reached out with a proposition to create a real CryptoBro toy. And so, a larger vision of the CryptoBro project was born.
