J.P. Morgan, Ticketmaster, .SWOOSH, and Playboy file metaverse trademark applications

The week starts with several major Web3-related trademark applications from J.P. Morgan, Ticketmaster, .SWOOSH, and Playboy. Mike Kondoudis, the United States Patent and Trademark Office licensed trademark attorney, shared the news on his Twitter. 

American multinational investment bank and financial services company J.P. Morgan registered a trademark for “J.P. Morgan Wallet.” The financial leader plans to provide financial services, electronic transfer of virtual currencies, process crypto payments, and exchange cryptocurrencies. In addition, the company will develop a website that will process different digital currencies, create virtual payment accounts, and more. 

Mike Kondoudis has also shared that the American men’s lifestyle magazine Playboy registered a trademark for NFTs. The brand will reportedly issue images, avatars, and other downloadable media backed by non-fungible tokens. 

Global entertainment company Live Nation Entertainment has filed an NFT-related trademark application for its ticket sales and distribution platform Ticketmaster. The latter will reportedly issue downloadable virtual goods and digital collectibles. The NFTs might contain images, videos, games, and even virtual experiences. Additionally, Ticketmaster will develop downloadable computer programs and software to create, store, and transmit cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and other tokens. 

Notably, Nike, which has recently launched its Web3 community platform, has filed three metaverse trademark applications for “DOTSWOOSH.” The applications cover virtual and crypto goods marketplaces, virtual clothing items, and downloadable goods like computer programs. More than that, Nike plans to release custom physical manufacture of real-world versions of digital apparel, footwear, accessories, and more. 

Major companies and institutions continue registering metaverse-related trademarks. For instance, the previous week saw trademark applications of a global car renter Enterprise and the University of Alabama. Meta Platforms has also filed four Metaverse trademark applications, planning to release VR, AR, and mixed-reality hardware.
