In a Reddit post created by Bill Gates on Wednesday evening, the billionaire co-founder of Microsoft
MSFT,
gave his insights on the future of web3, the metaverse, and artificial intelligence.
“AI is the big one. I don’t think Web3 was that big or that metaverse stuff alone was revolutionary but AI is quite revolutionary,” said Gates, in response to a question from a user who asked if Gates is seeing the same technological shift now that he saw in the 2000s with the internet.
He did not respond to a follow up question by another user that asked if he could go into more detail about why he thinks web3 technology isn’t revolutionary.
In the past, Gates has commented about crypto, saying “I like investing in things that have valuable output. The value of companies is based on how they make great products. The value of crypto is just what some other person decides someone else will pay for it so not adding to society like other investments.”
