A Compilation of Hand-Crafted Spiked Baseball Bats

Matt Gondek is a Deconstructive Pop Artist whose work is possessed with a punk rock spirit, celebrating rebellion and destruction. He tears down cartoon idols with a visceral pop color palette and a disarmingly playful tone, akin to slaughtering our modern-day gods. 

Born in 1982, his creative voice is rooted in the 90s as a true conduit of his generation and their potentially pointless search for meaning and purpose amidst a cruel life in a flawed world. He boasts sold-out exhibitions in his home of Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Bangkok, and Hong Kong.

Drop Details

Each bat is hand-carved with spikes installed, paint applied, and grip tape wrapped by hand. They are each different, with their uniqueness coming both from the organic nature of their creation and the deliberately designed color and pattern variations.

The NFTs are photographs of the real physical bats. A Fight Club NFT can be burned for its physical correlation, or the owner can retain the NFT and receive a signed print. Physical bats will arrive signed and numbered, and the final number of remaining physical bats will be determined by how many collectors burn their NFTs. 

Single Editions

There are five particularly special bats: four are coated in metallic paint (silver and gold), and one bat is coated in translucent paint along with my three signature paint colors (Neon Pink, 1k Watt Yellow, and Maliblu). These five special pre-sale bats are collectors’ only opportunity to own both the physical bat and its corresponding NFT. Owners of these five will also receive Gondek-signed prints of their NFT. 

The presale NFTs will be auctioned off to the general public on Thursday, August 18th. Bidding will be live for 48 hours after the $2,000 reserve price is met. Each presale NFT will include the two above-mentioned physical redemptions.

Mystery Boxes

Each NFT in the general drop will be available in a mystery box sale with a fixed price of $1,500. 

During the first 24 hours of the Drop, on Thursday, September 8, Mystery Boxes will be available to a special allow list for a single purchase. After the initial 24-hour window, the remaining NFTs will be available to the general public and allow list members can buy additional bats if they choose.

NFT owners from the general drop will have two mutually exclusive options for a physical redemption:

• Send the NFT to a burn wallet and receive the corresponding handmade physical bat
• Hold the NFT and receive a print, signed & editioned by Matt Gondek
