The Bitcoin whitepaper hidden in MacOS shipped since 2017 appears to be removed in an upcoming software update. 9to5Mac, a news site that reports Apple information, reported.
The existence of the white paper was discovered in April 2021 by MacOS community forum user bernd178 and posted on the forum.
bernd178 noticed that in the “Image Capture Utility” there is a feature called “Virtual Scanner II” that is not enabled by default. Inside, I found an image of the San Francisco Bay and a PDF of the Bitcoin White Paper.
Blogger Andy Baio found the forum post and posted it on his blog.
When 9to5Mac checked the beta version of MacOS 13.4, it did not contain this file. Virtual Scanner II itself has been removed from beta.
