How to Play

Big 2 is played with 4 players. The entire deck or 13 cards is dealt, and the first player who plays all of one’s cards wins. The winner gets to claim the total sum of points earned by the remaining players. If the player has fewer than 10 cards, he loses one point per card, and if he has more than 10 cards, the points are doubled. For example, 10 cards = 20 points, and 11 cards = 22 points, etc.

The game begins with the player who has three of diamonds played as a single card, i.e., these cards are paired with three other cards of a different suit. The consecutive players must play a higher hand or pass. If no one has a higher hand, the last player can play any of 1, 2, 3, or 5 card hands. The other options include:

  • Single Card Hands: 3 is the lowest and 2 is the highest, i.e., 3 < 4 < 5 < 6 < 7 < 8 < 9 < 10 < J < Q < K < A < 2. In  suits, the order is diamonds < clubs < hearts < spades. Therefore, the 2 of spades is known as the highest card.
  • 2 Card Hands: Two cards of the same number are valid. They are ranked primarily by number (e.g., 5 5 beats 10 10) and then by suit. The card with the highest suit wins.
  • 3 card hands: Three cards of the same number are valid. Ranked by number, suits do not matter.
  • 5 card hands: A Straight consisting of 5 numbers in a row, where 3 is lowest, and 2 is highest. Straight Flush Full House Bomb Straight Flush. For example, J Q K A 2.
  • Flush: A Flush consists of 5 cards of the same suit, ranked primarily by number and then by suit.
  • Full House: A Full House consists of a three-of-a-kind along with a pair, e.g., 4D 4S 7S 7H 7C.
  • Bomb: A Bomb consists of 4 cards of the same number plus any fifth card. The ranking is based on the 4-of-a-kind.
