And in hindsight, we could’ve guessed that marketing NFTs to an audience that skews older, might yield a similar result.
Here’s what we’re on about:
National Geographic recently launched its first NFT collection on Polygon, and with it, the NatGeo team posted an NFT explainer to their socials.
And, ah…their followers did not respond well.
If you were to create a word cloud out of the comments section, you might see the following:
‘Bubble,’ ‘already popped,’ ‘bullshit,’ ‘an extinct species,’ (side note: well done to whoever wrote that), ‘delete this,’ and ‘another way to launder.’
The takeaway:
NFTs might need a rebrand before they’re broadly accepted outside of the Web3 space.
