Crypto prices today: Bitcoin below $17,000, Solana & Ethereum plunge, top meme coins drop

By Nidhi Bhardwaj: On 8 December, crypto prices dropped with an increase in selling pressure and low inflow volumes. The global crypto market cap fell 1.66 percent to $840.20 billion from $854.61 billion yesterday. On the other hand, the global crypto volume increased by 4.87 percent to $37.13B in the last 24 hours. The value of Bitcoin fell below its $17,000 mark to stand at $16,828.21 this morning, an overall 1.18 percent decline.

The value of Ethereum also witnessed a fall from yesterday by 2.59 percent to $1,229.93, according to CoinMarketCap. As of (1000 IST), Solana was down by 4.49 percent to trade at $13.42 from the previous day. BNB decreased by 1.77 percent to $283.72. USD Coin on the other hand, is up by 0.01 percent at $1.00.

Other cryptocurrencies such as Tether increased 0.00 percent to $1.00, and XRP plunged 0.14 percent to $0.386043.

Top gainers include Sythentix, Nexo, EOS, and GMX, with current growth rates of 3.32 percent, 2.92 percent, 2.70 percent, and 1.36 percent, respectively. On the other hand, ImmutableX, Axie Infinity, Dash, and Near Protocol were among the top losers.

Top meme coins down

The value of the Meme Coin was down by 2.75 percent over the last day to $0.020907. Shiba Inu noticed a decrease of 1.51 percent in value to $0.000009, Dogecoin was down by 4.47 percent to $0.096383, and Dogelon Mars plunged by 4.77 percent to $3.32e-7.

Metaverse tokens drop

Trending metaverse token, Decentraland declined 3.91 percent to trade at $0.397742, and Axie Infinity dropped by 8.92 percent to trade at $8.17. Sandbox registered a loss of 4.99 percent to $0.580974.
