Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Rachelle Slade loves to play with her screenshots and it shows. I am a fan of pop art so her visual play appeals. The title of this picture is “The secret, I think, is knowing when to stop…” Truer words. She disassembles and reassembles and creates a recognizable and fascinating portrait. She provides a musical soundtrack for every photo. For this pic, it’s “FineShrine” by Purity Ring. To listen, click here.

“I’m a gasoline gut with a Vaseline mind” is a fun collage of herself. I love this photo collage. She reminds me just a bit of Eduardo Paolozzi’s collage work though she is using one picture to break down and recreate while he used several images to form one. If you’re curious about Eduardo Paolozzi, click here. She provides a link to Le Tigre’s Deceptacion. The video is great pop art. To listen click here.
For something completely different, this is a regular self-portrait but it seemed timely. I am not personally sick of politics and will probably never be, BUT I sure am sick of political ads. She calls it “Hard Relate” and links to The Pixies Debaser. To listen, click here.
Rachelle Slade also creates collages with pictures of flowers and her screenshots. Sometimes she seems to grow right out of the flowers. Another experiment is using light leaks and bokeh to blow out portions of her pics. She is an experimenter who plays with her pictures with such joyful exuberance. If you can browse her photostream without it lifting your mood, I will be surprised.
