Colorado Mycological Society’s Annual Mushroom Fair
Sunday, August 14, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York Street
Mushrooms are all the rage these days, whether for hunting, eating or getting high. Serve your mushroom fetish when the Colorado Mycological Society’s Annual Mushroom Fair pops up for a day in Mitchell Hall at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Hundreds of fungi will be on view, while CMS members educate guests on the basics of ’shroom identification, ecology, cultivation and toxicology. Even kids can get in the act, making mushroom crafts in the kids’ corner. The fair is free with regular paid entry to the gardens, $15. Details here.

Parade of Homes
Sunday, August 14, noon to 5 p.m.
Around Metro Denver
The longstanding Parade of Homes, a summer tradition hosted by the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver, has returned, with 38 homes along the Front Range, as well as an entire community in Painted Prairie. There are free in-person tours of homes from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, as well as online tour options. Get the details here.

Music Festival and Student Fair

Levitt Pavillion, 1380 West Florida Avenue
Join The Playground and the Alliance for Music Education Equity for a resource fair and music festival at Levitt Pavilion. In addition to educational and entertaining displays, there will be a free concert with Denver’s own Kayla Marque opening for indie Latin-rock group Y La Bamba at 5 p.m. Admission is free  (VIP is available); register here.

Banshee House Endless Summer

CinemaQ is back at the Sie with a long weekend of the best in LGBTQ+ film from around the globe. On Friday, Colman Domingo, a familiar face on stage and screens large and small, will accept CinemaQ’s first LaBahn Ikon Film Award. Thanks a Million! An Evening With Beth Malone

Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, 4747 Marketplace Drive, Johnstown
The Denver Actors Fund, which journalist John Moore founded a decade ago, is celebrating helping local theater folks with medical needs to the tune of a million dollars. As thanks, Beth Malone will give a celebratory benefit concert at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse; more than forty of that venue’s employees have benefited from the fund.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the show begins at 7:45.
