Cambria launches Season 2: Crypto’s riskiest game?

Season 2 of Cambria — the risk-to-earn game that’s like if Hunger Games and crypto had a baby — just launched and is capturing the attention of the crypto gaming community like no other game has in 2025.

Inspired by classics like Runescape and Ultima, the game is based on Ronin and Abstract. It’s set in a brutal medieval fantasy world and players stake crypto, NFTs, and other in-game assets — but if they lose a battle, they can lose everything they’ve put on the line.

This one’s not for the faint-hearted. Popular gaming streamer Yellow Panther admitted he is “addicted” to the game. Gaming commentator Karina said the game has her “hooked.”

Is this the kind of high-stakes chaos crypto gaming needs to finally win over the degen crowd that lives for wild, shitcoin-level risk?

Well, professional gamer “Inhuman” suggested the game is so good he hasn’t “showered in 2 days.”

“Cambria is the only Web3 game that will do this to you,” Inhuman said. Then again, when do gamers ever shower?

(Jeffrey Zirlin)

Gaming commentator Icobeast.eth told their 38,900 X followers, “Cambria is a good example of a CT-degen offering.” Icobeast reckons all the hype around Cambria might point to a more significant problem with crypto games:

“Pretty sure the excitement and buzz around @playcambria shows that the issue with crypto gaming is just that most of the games have sucked so far and never should have had tokens or NFTs or anything.”

Gaming commentator Stonkrates said, “It’s a Runescape-like game that just launched its Web3 MMO on Abstract. Importantly, I expect abstract XP to be very good for playing with very little investment required.”

Cambria’s running a rewards event through the end of April, with “huge USDC prizes” up for grabs. To participate, you’ll need to mint a Royal Charter for 56 Ronin (RON), which is just under $30.

Pixel goes multi game

PIXEL, the token behind one of the most popular Web3 games on the planet (Pixels) is moving outside its own ecosystem for the first time and integrating with The Forgotten Runiverse — a grand fantasy magic RPG.

“That’s right — $PIXEL is going multi-game,” Pixel said in an X post. “PIXEL will be integrated into a third-party title, allowing players to earn, exchange, and spend PIXEL across multiple games.”

The Forgotten Runiverse said players can swap its game token, Quanta, for PIXEL tokens — and spend PIXEL in-game on Mana, Boosts, and other extras. There will also be exclusive Pixel-themed rewards available in the game.

Both Pixels and The Forgotten Runiverse, run on the EVM compatible Ronin Network.

(Pixels)

Pixels founder Luke Barwikowski tells Magazine the game will soon roll out a “pretty novel staking system” and add “new mechanics” to help players feel more connected to the game.

Barwikowski also said it’s “likely” that Pixels will integrate the blockchain game company Limit Break’s application tokens.

After blowing up in 2024, Pixels continues to be one of the most talked-about crypto games, with 152,560 unique active wallets (UAW) at the time of publication.

But a wider crypto market downturn has seen gaming tokens plummet hard in recent times. Pixels is down almost 83% since Jan. 1, trading at $0.02661 at the time of publication, according to CoinMarketCap data.

Hot Take: Fishing Frenzy

Mobile fishing game Fishing Frenzy is as pretty much as it sounds…the fishing part that is. ‘Frenzy’ is more debatable.

(Fishing Frenzy)

Frenzy technically means “wild excitement or agitation,” according to Collins Dictionary — which might be a stretch. Frenzy sounds more applicable to a chaotic battle shooter game than chilling on a boat with a fishing rod.

Having recently migrated to the Ronin Network, it’s a cozy and casual adventure game. Whether you’re a fishing enthusiast or not, you can still enjoy Fishing Frenzy. Yeah, you can catch fish like every other fishing game, but it doesn’t stop there (thankfully).  I actually learned a few things, too, like when to set the hook and some other fishing lingo.

They’ve gamified the whole supply chain. After you reel in your fish, you can head to the kitchen and slice it up into sashimi to earn Pearls. Then, you use those Pearls to spin the wheel and rack up Frenzy points.

Plus, you can mint and trade NFTs like fishing rods and chests that you actually use in-game.

Overall, the game isn’t groundbreaking, but it has enough going on, from fishing out at sea to cooking in the kitchen and even ranking up and trading NFTs, to keep things interesting.

If you’re tired of those mindless clicker crypto games and want a mobile game with more substance, this could be just what you’re looking for.
