We are thrilled to share an important milestone in our journey towards excellence in data security and privacy: Moralis is now the first Web3 infra provider to be fully SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.

What is SOC 2 Type 2?

To become SOC 2 Type 2 certified, we needed to perform an extensive audit of our systems and processes. This is meant to ensure that our systems and processes are secure and that we adhere to them in practice.

What sets SOC 2 Type 2 apart from, e.g., SOC 2 Type 1, is its depth and rigor. Unlike a SOC 2 Type 1 certification, which assesses an organization’s policies and procedures at a single point in time, Type 2 requires a far more thorough audit. This process examines how controls are implemented and maintained over a period, typically spanning at least six months, providing a more comprehensive view of an organization’s dedication to security.

In short, while SOC 2 Type 1 can be a short-term solution for compliance, SOC 2 Type 2 provides the highest level of mature data security assurance to customers and prospects. This is why SOC 2 Type 2 compliance is absolutely essential for enterprises that take data seriously.
