The Filecoin Network currently produces an impressive count of 6-7 million zk-SNARK proofs daily, with each proof encompassing over 100 million arithmetic constraints. 

Significant enhancements and optimizations were implemented to scale the existing SNARK-generation tools and cater to the network’s exceptional demands to achieve this feat. A zk-SNARK serves as a cryptographic validation enabling a party to demonstrate possession of specific information without divulging the actual data. 

According to Filecoin, “As far as we know, Filecoin represents the largest zk-SNARK deployment to date —in several dimensions:” In the realm of cryptographic proofs, Filecoin’s trusted setup enables the creation of circuits capable of handling up to 2^27 (approximately 134 million) constraints. 

Additionally, the network boasts of circuits surpassing 100 million constraints, demonstrating their extensive capacity. Certain proofs combine up to 10 zk-SNARKs to meet rigorous security requirements into a single, large proof. Moreover, through extensive research and deployment of zk-SNARK aggregation, Filecoin can compress thousands of individual proofs into a singular proof.

Additionally, the nv19 Lightning Upgrade’s key achievement introduces many enhancements and refinements to the Filecoin ecosystem, fostering enhanced efficiency, heightened security, and improved usability.

According to the Filecoin team, the first enhancement made due to the nv19 lighting upgrade is the nv19 Lightning Upgrade brings three new FIPs (Filecoin Improvement Proposals): FIP0060, FIP0061, FIP0062. These proposals introduce significant changes and improvements to the Filecoin network. For instance, FIP0060, the Lightning upgrade, brings technical improvements, reducing block synchronization times amidst increasing storage deals. 

FIP0060 extends deal maintenance to 30 days, decreasing the network-wide frequency and power consumption. This safe and efficient design choice addresses the challenge and enhances the Filecoin network.

The FIP0061 is a community-driven proposal that enhances the security and reliability of the Filecoin-proof system. By implementing a new algorithm for challenge generation, the verification of WindowPoSt is more efficient and robust. This optimization of WindowPoSt proofs strengthens the network’s resilience against potential vulnerabilities, ensuring the integrity and trustworthiness of stored data.

Lastly, FIP0062 brings forth a fallback method handler for multisig and payment channel actors, providing them with enhanced versatility and user-friendliness.
